Our Common Ground

2016

Cleveland OH / Philadelphia, PA
Paint, sculpture, dialogue, video, LED lights

Our Common Ground allocated space for thoughtful dialogue and reflection at both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. During the tumultuous U.S. election of 2016, participants joined the “Dialogue Den,” a space reserved for facilitated exchange between those of opposing viewpoints. Surrounding obelisks, called “Voter Poles,” represented elements of the good life and enabled participants to “vote for the good life” using colorful orbs and spring launchers. A culminating gallery exhibition presented the installation with results and footage from the convention tour.
